Welcome to another episode of Citizen FortyFour Vietnam with Sabrina and I as we discover new and exciting experiences together traveling around Vietnam. Although Sabrina was born in Truc Bach (Hanoi), Vietnam and has done extensive traveling around the country on her own, there are still many places she has not been and those places she’s already visited are certainly different with me along for the ride. For instance, she has been to Hai Phong many times in the past, but traveling with me is another type of experience altogether.
One example of that was on our stop for some refreshments (coconut water and sugarcane juice) near the beach after a one hour motorbike ride from Hai Phong City where I decided for the first time in front of Sabrina to partake in the traditional smoking of tobacco via the Thuoc Lao pipe with a local man. Although there was some initial shock on her end to see me do this, it was a very fun experience for both of us to share as this was just another opportunity for me to connect with the local Vietnamese people and demonstrate that I do in fact fit in nicely with the culture. As with our later experience on the ferry to the island, it makes my heart soar to have Sabrina witness me connecting so deeply with her Vietnamese brothers and sisters in an effortless and rewarding way for all to enjoy.
This memorable trip was taken as a way to celebrate Sabrina’s Birthday which is on the 12th of May. She is once again as always 18 years old. I look forward to sharing many more fun episodes where Sabrina and I travel all over Vietnam in search of unique experiences to discover and share with you.
*In the near future, I will create a separate post and gallery of photos that I captured on our adventure and share them with you once I finish editing them. There are a lot of great shots I look forward to showing you.
